2021 Short Story Competitions are now open.






For People Aged 18 + Download Entry Form
The winner will receive the Outback Trophy and a copy of the book that will be published for the event. The conditions are as follows:

Conditions of Entry

1.      The story is fictional. The story should not be under consideration for publication or entered into another writing prize. Stories that have been published or won a writing prize will not be accepted.
2.      The maximum word count is 3,000 words.
3.      The story must reflect Outback Australia in same manner.
4.      The story must be written by an individual author and only one entry per author will be accepted.
5.      The author must currently reside in Australia.
6.      The story must be typed in Times Roman 12pt Font using Microsoft Word. Please do not submit PDFs or Rich Text Files.
7.      The finished story must be emailed to winton@outbackwritersfestival.com.au by 5:00pm on 30 April 2021.
8.      Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into about the judgements or process.
9.      The best entries will be published in an anthology. Royalties will not be paid to contributors of the anthology. Those published will receive a free copy.
10.     Each story must have the following information as its first page:

The winner will receive the Outback Trophy and the prizes listed below:
First Prize: $300.00
Second Prize: $125.00
Third Prize: $75.00
All authors published in the book will receive a free copy of the book.

The above prizes are sponsored by Boolarong Press.
